Description

Garden Rack Beams form the structural support for your vertical grow system. These beams are 8 feet long (additional sizes available — call us) and have a capacity of 2,700 lbs, which means your valuable crop will be safely supported even when loaded down with soil and water.

Pallet rack beams are made from high-strength steel for superior durability and are powder coated to protect against corrosion and water damage. Unlike wood, powder coated steel does not attract wood-eating pests and insects. Steel also reduces the chance of mold, mildew, spores and other diseases that are common in wood-based shelving systems. These problems can quickly destroy a valuable harvest. Garden Rack Beams reduce the chance of these problems ruining your product. It also means that your Garden Rack system will last for decades, and will let you Grow Higher for many years to come.

Do I need a Garden Rack Beam?

If you’re building a racking-based vertical grow system, then yes. These beams connect the uprights together and form the beam/grow levels for your vertical grow system.

What’s the difference between a Grow Level and a Beam Level?

Grow Levels

A grow level is a shelf that will hold plants. Typically, in an 8 ft tall vertical grow system, it is common to have two grow levels for mature plants. A 12 ft vertical grow system commonly has three grow levels of mature crop. Clones/starts or shorter strains let you put more grow levels in the same space.

Beam Levels

Beam levels are the number of total shelf levels in a rack bay. In vertical growing systems, this is typically one more than the number of grow levels. This extra beam level is placed at the top of the bay and is used to hang lights for the grow level below it.

How many beams do I need?

You’ll need two beams per beam level. A single bay of racking with two grow levels would need four beams for the grow levels, plus two beams at the top to hang lights, for a total of six beams. Said differently, A single bay of racking with three beam levels (one for the lights on top, plus two grow levels), would require six beams. For three grow levels, you would need 8 beams total.

How to install a Garden Rack Beam

Installation is easy. It requires a minimum of two people, but it works best with three people.

1. Begin by standing an upright in your desired location. Have one person hold the upright.
2. Have a second person measure 8 ft from the upright
3. Stand the second upright exactly 8ft apart from the first upright, and have the second person hold the second upright.
4. Now take the beam and slide the rivets into the teardrop holes on the upright at the desired height. Make sure the beam is level.
5. Place the second beam on the opposite side at the same height. The bay should now be able to stand freely.
6. Place the remaining beams at the desired levels.
